Owner's actual costs of owning a Cirrus SR22

I've logged  186.6 on the hobbs since picking up my 2004 G2 SR22 in August, 6 months ago.  I am supremely impressed with the plane. Far from perfect, but looking at big picture there instead of focusing on details. The plane cost me $122/hr, read details below. Some cool conclusions: Total breakdowns (abandon plane, fly commercial): 1.   (On first big flight I found cracked exhaust lifter during 25hr oil change and decided to leave the plane as we couldn't get the part in time. This was fault of engine overhaul, not really plane's fault.) Total in-flight emergencies/breakdowns/malfunctions: 0 Significant flights: Coast-to-coast 1.5 times. Mexico. Belize. Honduras.  3x Caribbean. 2x Canada.  Longest open water: Belize to Texas nonstop. # of times passengers used "little john": 2 (one boy, one girl) Upgrades purchased: 1 (install flight meter, 20% slower rate than hobbs meter) Upgrades wanted: 0 Total pilot deviations: 0 Missed a...

Trip Report: Sundance 2015

Trip Report - Sundance 2015. Sundance film festival is set in high altitude sub zero village of Park CIty, Utah. Most things happen right in Park City village, so you park your car and walk everywhere. There are lots of parties going on, some but not all invite only, and open bar is common. There are lots of celebrities everywhere, doing workshops, talking about films, or just socializing like everyone else. Prime example: James Franco, sporting a creepy mustache, talking about a new gay film at a 3 story Oculus Rift virtual reality exhibit house. This was my first Sundance Film Festival, did a Friday night-Sunday night trip. Saw 2 films, Cronies (a modern day male on male gangster love story) and Partisan (a visceral story of a commune that trains child solders, starring Vincent Cassel, highly recommended, I wrote up a nice imdb review for it pending, to be published soon). After the film plays, the crew and cast come out for Q&A, super intimate and awesome to meet the peop...
To the cowards armed with AK47s who stormed into a Paris cartoon office and murdered 12 people armed only with pencils and erasers - I hope you all burn in hell. It is looking like the 12 lives you too pissed off a whole lot of people world wide and the retaliation will be brutal, ongoing, and highly painful and damaging for your supporters. While it is absolutely ok to get pissed off at satyrical  cartoons, it is absolutely not ok to shoot unarmed people with AK47s. I don't care what color your skin is, what god you follow or what injustice your ancestors were subjected to. This is a crime against all humanity. There are times for calm, rational thought; and there are times to fight fire with fire. The reaction in Paris today is chilling. Be very afraid.
