Universal guide on how to become a super-human rational, fast decision maker.

I'm going to teach you how to become a super-human decision maker, especially in situations of great stress where it's needed the most. Let's start from the beginning. A wise friend who is not only a scholar, but a philosopher, and scientist once came to me and said "I figured it out." "That's great. Figured what out?" I asked half jokingly. "Acceptance. It is the universal answer to everything." This statement seemed pretty silly. "What is this Acceptance  you speak of?" I said half jokingly. "It is the source of happiness, peace, empathy, everything good; and conversely speaking, anxiety, anger, war, hatred, everything bad." he says. Not only did I find this claim absolutely ridiculous; I became bit annoyed. I rejected his theory. He calmly said "Let me explain" and gave an example. You just witnessed a car run a stop sign in front of you. Your internal voice repents: "I CANNOT BELIEVE that

About CO2 and the Truth, Beauty and Fear in Mathematics

A bright, young scientist invents a space ship that can finally travel faster than the speed of light. He bravely sets out on the first mission to find intelligent life. Only a few hours later he returns, startled. "I found an alien species! Almost as advanced as ours. They have been evolving for the thousands of years making great progress in technology and medicine, and one day, they decided to light a great fire. Not one, but millions, around the whole planet. They, can clearly see the skies are turning black, and the damage is irreversible. In fact all the top alien scientists are warning to put the fires out. But they just keep throwing more stuff on the fire. The black skies have upset their alien seas. Great walls of water are destroying their cities, endless droughts are ruining the food, millions of them are dying from these catastrophes. But they just keep throwing more stuff in the fire.. These aliens have lost their mind! In 50 years they will all be dead&

The young scientist and 4 alien species that have completely lost their minds

A brilliant young scientist builds a spaceship that can finally travel faster than speed of light. He flies to a distant planet with a strange alien civilization. He observes the planet for a few days but instead of landing and greeting the alien race, he decides to go back home. Upon his triumphant return he tells us about his incredible journey and how the alien race has totally lost their mind . “ They had advanced technology, alien art, music, many beautiful things. But they had a very peculiar habit. Billions of the aliens were injecting themselves with a poison that was slowly killing them. Young ones, old ones, even ones who were on their deathbed from this very poison, they were injecting it still! How could it be? The famous alien actors were also injecting themselves with this poison. I noticed it was on their billboards, in their music, and even on their alien television. Boy, they really love this poison injection. The alien scientists knew about the dangers

A technical battle of a Beneteau Cycledes or Oceanis 43' vs 38' sail boat

I'm trying to get a sense of physical difference between 38 and 43 Beneteau Cyclades yachts, but similar numbers are true for Ocanis series. I think the 38' is comfortable enough to live on for 2 people, but living comfort is just one piece of the puzzle. This article is written written so even non-yachters (like myself) can understand it. Beam:  Beam: 14ft 5" vs 13 ft 0" The "beam" is the width at the widest point, look at 'b' in this daigram. So the 43.3 is 1 foot 5" wider. Another way to look at it is it's 10% wider at the widest point. Big difference. As you move between the bow and stern, squeezing through the tighter places, on the 38' the smaller areas are 10% smaller, which will be noticeable.  Length : 43ft 3" vs 39ft 4". 4 ft difference, or, 10% longer. Big difference. Maximum draft : 6ft 2" vs 6 ft 0". 4 inch difference, or, 3% deeper. Not a big difference. You will not get any mo

Why your life is a leaky glass full of holes and everyone is drinking out of it

The boy and his leaky glass of water This is a story about a little boy and a cup of water. But the cup won't hold water. It takes the boy a lifetime to figure out why Let's start with an analogy about a cup. Thank of water as money and the cup is your bank account. Your objective is to fill it with enough water that you can take the cup to your favorite place and sip out of it for the rest of your life until you die. This is retirement. Whoever achieves the objective first wins. Each paycheck you add water to your cup. "Great, the cup is filling up fast, soon I'll be able to take it to the new place, retire, and win." But there's a problem. By the time you're ready to add more water (next paycheck) you notice something peculiar: not all the water your added remains in the cup. In fact, almost none of it remains . How i this possible? You worked so hard to add water and it looked like the cup would be full soon!. You add more water and notice som
I was asked the question of "Where is a nice place to travel to outside of North America in November?" This is my answer: Hawaii is always lovely. I have friends in hawaii with a 50' sailboat, they live part time in SF working tech jobs, part time they live on the boat. They will be there and they like visitors if you guys want i can connect you. lexi and i will visit them too. south america is a mess i don't think you would like it. maybe chile, if you want the south american experience but not the chaos. but i think too cold in november, too close to south pole. the way to pick your travel destination is look at the globe and divide it into 24 strips. 12 in upper hemisphere and 12 in lower. for each month, there is an ideal place to be. in november it is somewhere around florida. so you can draw a line all the way around earth through miai and see where it intersects. weather will be good in all those places. then draw another line in the so

Kitesurfing Puerto Penasco, flight in Cirrus SR22

Trip report:  We flew a Cirrus SR22 from Palo Alto, CA (KPAO to Puerto Penasco Mexico (MMPE) for kitesurfing. Who attended : Tom, Jon, Micheal , Vasyl (above) Michael, Tom , Alonso (airport chief), Vasyl, Jon (above) final approach to MMPE penasco airport (above) arrival in Mexico warm greeting by army guys and airport officials. We flew my plane to Mexico last weekend, a true kiteboarding Mecca and an unknown gem. I'm going back this weekend. Wind forecast Wind forecast called for 15kt gusting 22kt both Saturday and Sunday. In reality, Saturday was weak, we could barely stay upwind with 11m. Sunday was nuking. I had my 11m on fully depowered line rig and fully de-powered trim and I was overpowered in the big waves. Google search " Windguru Puerto Penasco " to see forecast, it's reasonably accurate. If it's showing 18 gusting 25 it will be nuking,. bring a 9m. House We rented a house on Playa Miramar, beautiful luxury
